Clifford Palmer Sentenced to Prison For Inmate Beating

Clifford Palmer, a former Erie County Prison guard was sentenced today to three to 12 months in prison for his role in the beating of an inmate.

Palmer had pleaded guilty to official oppression, a second-degree misdemeanor.

He was sentenced for his role in an inmate beating by not shutting down his cellblock during the assault, in which five inmates punched another prisoner in an arranged beating.

Jason Worcester, another Erie County Prison guard was charged with arranging the inmate beating.

Palmer was also sentenced to two years probation and 50 hours of community service.

Erie County Detectives investigated the cased and charged Palmer and Worcester. Assistant District Attorney Brian Krowicki handled the case for the District Attorney's office.
