John G. Colon Sentenced To 20 to 40 Years

February 03, 2012

John G. Colon was sentenced to 20 to 40 years in state prison today after he pleaded guilty to third-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of 27-year-old Corry man in July.

Colon stabbed Nathan C. Reynolds with an 8-inch Bowie knife during an argument at the intersection of East Main and Center streets in Corry on July 7.

Colon was already on parole for stabbing to death another man in Allegheny County in 2004. He was convicted of voluntary manslaughter in that case and sentenced to five to 15 years.

Colon will serve the 20 to 40 years consecutively to his remaining sentence in the voluntary-manslaughter.

First Assistant Robert Sambroak handled both the plea and sentencing for the Erie County District Attorney's Office.
