High Tech Crime Investigation

This program is funded through a grant provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and overseen by Chief County Detective Larry Dombrowski. District Attorney Jack Daneri and the High Tech Crime Unit is one of only two listed points of contact for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the U.S. Department of Justice "Electronic Crime Scene Investigation: A Guide for First Responders." Chief Dombrowski has preformed computer forensics for police agencies in numerous counties in Pennsylvania, Chautauqua County, New York, and for federal agencies.

  • Embezzlement
  • Extortion
  • Fraud
  • Hacking/Intrusion
  • Homicide
  • Internet Harassment
  • Internet Threats
  • Receiving Stolen Property
  • Theft of Intellectual Property

In October of 2002, the Erie County District Attorney's Office, Edinboro University of PA and the High Tech Crime Unit combined forces and was awarded a $333,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) to develop and operate high tech training center for the entire western half of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. To date, the training center has trained more than 1200 law enforcement officers on conducting computer crime and cellular telephone investigations.
