Erie police investigate shots-fired reports
Erie police recovered shell casings but found no shooters after they were called to the area of West Ninth and Cherry streets to investigate a shots-fired incident this morning.

Police were called to the area at 3:05 a.m. after residents there reported hearing six to seven shots. Officers checked the area and found 9 mm and .40-caliber shell casings in the 500 block of West Ninth Street, Erie police Lt. Kirk Werner said.

A house in the neighborhood had been hit by several bullets, he said.

There were no reported injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.

Erie police also were called to the 1300 block of West 21st Street shortly after 6:30 a.m. to investigate a shots-fired report. Officers found no evidence of a shooting there, Werner said.
